CELEBRATING
200 YEARS

From the first settlers who arrived here along White Lick Creek in the early 1820s to receiving its official designation as an Indiana county on April 1, 1824, the only Hendricks County in the United States has come a long way in 200 years!
Join us as we celebrate two centuries of history, growth, and community spirit throughout 2024 in this amazing destination we call home. Situated in the heart of Central Indiana, Hendricks County is made up of 12 townships and numerous small towns including Amo, Avon, Brownsburg, Clayton, Coatesville, Lizton, North Salem, Pittsboro, Plainfield, and our county seat of Danville.
Find out how you can help honor our past by scrolling through or even adding to our photo gallery, embrace our present by volunteering, donating, and enjoying or perhaps hosting upcoming Bicentennial community events and other celebrations, and prepare for our future by establishing a legacy project for generations to come.
The Hendricks
County
Bicentennial
“One hundred years from now another people will celebrate the second Centennial. They will have their burdens and their responsibilities, many of them such as we today know not of. None of us will be here then but the record of the first Centennial will then be read. Let us all assist in making it a worthy story.”
- The Republican Newspaper, 1924
